Me and Photography

I love photography! Derek gave me this tripod and a lens pen this Christmas. I always have my camera with me since I came to Canada and I'm posting photos in my blog so that my friends and family in Japan can see what is like in Canada or what I'm doing in my new life. I wasn't really care about the way it turned out or the quality I got before, but now I care so much and I have been learning techniques by myself since I purchased my first SLR camera, Nikon D40x. Camera is so much fun. I know that this is the way I express myself. I'm not good at speaking even in my mother language, but each of my photography tells you what I am and what I am feeling. Each moment is special!!
Lucky for me, next spring, I'm going to do wedding photographer in Niagara, Ontario and I'm so excited about it!!

Merry Christmas!

Ho Ho Ho. It's Christmas!! We had a little bit rain this morning, but it turned out really nice and planty of sunshine is coming through the window. Since me and my boyfriend, Derek were together, we get together with his parents and his sister family either in Moncton where his parents live or in Prince Edward Island where his sister's family live, but we are staying Saint John because he is working this year. So I'm cooking turkey right now!! It has been about two hours since I threw it in a oven and it smells good in a kitchen.

Just because he had to work today and I was working til 4pm yesterday, we couldn't do a whole lots, but we went to Japanese restaurant ''Sense of Tokyo'' to say Merry Christmas even though we already had supper at home. We sat in a counter, and Derek had some Asahi beer, which is his favorite Japanese beer, and we had a great time. This is the picture of Derek after we came home. He got a ''tenugui'' which is kinda Japanese towl on his head and two ''shishimai'' in his hands.

It's less than a week to Christmas!! How are you doing in this Christmas season? Have you finished your Christmas shopping? Yes, I have!! So only I have to do is wrap up the gifts and pretty much ready to go.
I bought this beautiful Christmas wreath at a craft store yesterday. This was clearlance sale, and I only paid $10 instead paying $50 regular price. What a great deal!! Now it's on our front door, welcoming everyone to come. We had a lots of snow last week, and it started snowing agian. The world around me is nice and white... Hummm I should make a hot chocolate.

Me and Crochet

If somebody ask me what my hobbies are, I would say crocheting first. I started crocheting about two years ago, and this is the picture of my very first work I have made. Does it look like flower? After my one year school intern contract, I went back to vistor status, I was not able to get a job until I became an immigrant, which was depressing sometime, but I had so much time to spend just for me and I knew that I would use this time for creation. When I was thinking to start crocheting, I met a girl who does beautiful crochet work. She suggested me to get a book called ''Stitch 'N Bitch Crochet: The Happy Hooker'' to start off. The book title is quite funny, but it actually helped me a lot to learn basic stitch. It took time, but everything came together as I go.

Now I have own small business where I sell my crochet work. We have many cruise ships during summer in Saint John, and I go down a place called ''Loyalist Plaza'' where I set up my own outside market. I also attend the local craft show, and I am taking order through email anytime. My main item is toque, and I have sold about 400 toques so far in two years. Right now, I'm working on stuff for coming next summer. It's getting colder and colder here in East Coast Canada, so it's nice to stay in nice warm house and sit on a couch with soft blanky and drink a cup of coffee and just crochet.... This is what winter is all about.

I am Licca

Hi, My name is Licca from Japan. I live in East Coast Canada, Saint John, New Brunswick with my sweet boyfriend, Derek. After two-year-working in high school as a Math teacher in Japan, I came here as a school intern in September 2004 and worked in two local schools teaching Japanese culture and langage for a year. Then I was supposed to go back Japan after my one year contract, but it didn't happen!! Right before I go home, I met this guy, and we have been together since then. My life has totally changed. I have dremt of living somewhere different, but never thought that it will ever happen to me. January 23th, 2008, I finally became an immigrant and slowly I'm getting myself establised here.
Things I love are crocheting, photographies, coffee, plants, and many more. They all make me happy and I need each one of them in my life. In this blog, I'm going to keep you posted all these things I love.
